He is one of the biggest artists in Egypt and the Arab world, Abdel Halim Hafez (real name: Abdel Halim Shabana) was born in June 21, 1929. Abdel Halim Hafez had a nickname "Aandalib Al Asmar"(Nightingale), and was known as the Arab Elvis
His mother died when he was young and his father died after five months from his mother's death, he was an orphan at an early age.
Despite the rumors about his marriage, Abdel Halim Hafez and Soad Hosni were just friends and were not married. Souad Hosni died on the date of his birthday in June 21, 2001. Abdel Halim, has drowned in love once in his youth, but the family of his beloved refused to allow them to marry, and after four years, they got their approval; unfortunately the bride died before their marriagein few days.
His musical gift came into light when he was in primary school, and his first music teacher was his brother Ismail Shabana. At the age of 11, he joined the Arabic Music Institute in Cairo and became known for repeating the songs of Abdul Wahab. Abdel Halim Hafez graduated from the Higher Institute of Music as player on the instrument Alabouah.
Immediately after graduation, he was offered a government-run abroad, but he refused running away and worked for 4-years as a music teacher.
And after he submitted his resignation from teaching, Abdul Halim Hafez became a member of the musical radio (Al Iza3a Al Mousikiya), as a musician playing on Alabouah instrument.
Abdel Halim sang "Safini Marra" and the poem "Likaa" and got criticism from the public, they refused it in the beginning; they were still not ready for this type of songs.
