Elissa was born on October 27, 1972 in Deir el Ahmar in the Beqaa Valley of Lebanon. She has raised a shining star in the Arab world just in a quick time

She became famous and very well known even though in a domain far from her studies. She received a Bachelor of Political Science degree from the Lebanese University. She began her artistic career with the "Théatre de 10 heures" and the performer Wassim Tabbara Her first beginning in 1992, she appeared on a talent show on LBC, "Studio el Fan", in which she won the silver medal. After some long time, in 1998, she showed again with a Spanish-Arabic single, titled "Badi Doub". It was her first album titled " Baddi Doub"; it was one of the largest-selling albums in Lebanon and the Middle East, which sold over 150,000 copies. And she backed it with a video clip in black and white which was the center of attention of the media at that time.
  Elissa's success was crowned internationally when she participated in the renowned International Music Festival in Cannes in 2000.
Her second appearance was in 2000, in a duet with the famous artist Ragheb Alameh "Betghib Betrouh." The song was included in Elissa's second album W'akherta Ma'ak,and her second album was also a huge success, which sold more than 1,600,000 copies. And she has also done a video clip for this song along with Ragheb Alameh.
Then later on, Elissa fabulously sang with the international artist Chris DeBurgh in an Arabic-English song titled "Lebanese Nights", Chris DeBurgh himself wrote, composed and distributed the song. Elissa was lucky to be chosen by Chris to share this song with him. It added value to her musical career. They recorded the song in London and it was also released in Chris DeBurgh's 2002 Album, Timing Is Everything.
Elissa's international performance was a key to her success worldwide. Elissa also performed along with the international artist “Sting” in a charity concert attended by ex-American president “Bill Clinton”, queen “Rania”, and successor of UAE Kingdom , “Sheikh Mohamad Bin Rached Al Maktoum”.
Christian Dior sponsored her clothes and make-up in her third album and video clip of "Ayshalak". It was the first time that Christian Dior officially presents this event to an Arabic artist. Elissa was honored by this fact. Her third album "Ayshalak" was released in June 2002,  the video clip filmed in Paris by the French director Fabrice Begotti. The composer/arranger Jean-Marie Riachi played a huge role in Elissa's success, Elissa was able to follow with another hit "Ajmal Ehsas". This time the video clip was directed by the Lebanese director, Selim El Turk. Both Elissa and Selim won the Murex D'Or for the best female artist and the best video clip.
At end of 2002 she inaugurated the opening of Kuwait's Virgin Megastore with Sir Richard Branson, the founder of the famous stores. Also a great success for Elissa was being included in the anthology book '100 Pioneers of Lebanon' alongside artists such as Fairouz, Wadih el Safi, as well as many other celebrities.
In September 2003, Elissa performed at the Hope Charity Gala, which took place in the Royal Albert hall, in London. Elissa was the sole representative of the Middle East among other international stars such as Sarah Brightman, Zucchero, and Joaquin Cortes. Also, in 2003 was her first deal with Pepsi which made her the official female star for Pepsi for the Arab World. Elissa's fourth album "Ahla Dounia' was released in 2004. It was the first album under Elissa's contract with Rotana. The album received a 2005 World Music Award for best-selling album in the Middle East and North Africa. In 2005, a Special Collector's Edition of the record was made available (1000 copies) with state-of-the-art packaging including a mini-biography.
It was followed in 2004 by a contract with Ray Ban to promote their campaign. Further commercial campaigns included the contract with Lux, and a renewal for her contract with Pepsi. Elissa is an official spokesperson for Pepsi. In 2006 she co-starred with Christina Aguilera in a Pepsi Cola advertisement. In 2006, Elissa released her fifth studio effort, the album Bastanak, which has sold nearly 6.2 million copies, according to Rotana.
In 2007, she promotes the new campaign of Vogue Eyewear in the Arab world named "Elissa plays with Vogue".
Her latest hit (2007) is titled "Halili dounyaya" and it's a duet with Cheb Mami. This single also fascinated her fans, a new style and nice song. In 2008, she released her album "Ayami Beek" then  followed by her 2010 album titled "Tisaddak Bi Meen" 
In 2012, Elissa launched a very successful album "Asaad Wa7da" which remained Number 1 album for several months. 

She appeared in important events namely:
-Honorable Murex D'Or for being the first Lebanese to receive the World Music Award 2005. -She received the best video clip award for the song Hobbak Waja' (directed by Selim el Turk).
-She was also held the Best Female artist of the year.
- Elissa has won two World Music Awards for best-selling artist in the Middle East in 2005 and 2006. Total sales of her albums are close to 18 million.
-Elissa won the 'World Music Award 2007" for the best singer in the Middle East for the second time.
