Assi El Helani recently said in an interview the story behind changing his real name. The justification goes as follows: his real name is Mohammed and he choose a fake name which is “Assi” to take advantage of the fame of Assi Rahbani, who died in 1986, the same year in which Assi El Helani began his singing career, and in addition to the above-mentioned reason, El Helani said he adored the Assi river in Lebanon especially that he grew up in Baalbek, where the river passes by. And the last reason comes as a shock, Assi said he refused to associate the name he holds, which is the name of the Prophet Muhammad, with singing. So what does that make of all the singers holding the name Mohammad, how could his opinion be elaborated
