It is the ninth month of the lunar Islamic calendar when the moon is crescent, it is the month of Allah, the month of fasting, the month of the Holy Qur'an, the divine Islam book; it is the month of Ramadan.
Ramadan month is a special spiritual month of the Muslim people, where they fast from dawn until sunset. Muslim people fast during daylight to purify their soul and be blessed.
The word Ramadan is derived from Al Ramad which signifies the intensity of the sun’s heat. The word "Ramadan" is separated from the month of Ramadan, Ramadan is said to be one of God’s names.
The importance of Ramadan for Muslims relies in their belief that the Koran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad during the month of Ramadan in 610 C.E.
When does Ramadan 2011 start? The answer and exact dates of Ramadan 2011 can't be known in advance, these are approximate expectations:
Ramadan 2011 is said to start on August 1, 2010 and continues throughout the 30 days until 1 September 2010. The crescent is the advent of index, which announces the start of Ramadan and people say "Tal El Amar, Tal Ramadan" which is (the moon has shown, now Ramadan begins)

After a full month of fasting during the holy month of Ramadan comes Eid Al-Fitr, the first day after the month of fasting, Muslims celebrate Eid al-Fitr and it lasts for three days.

The worship is the basis of the month of Ramadan, it includes al Taraweeh prayer, completing the Qur'aan, the ten days of Ramadan, Ramadan prayers, six days fasting of Shawwaal, sayings about Ramadan, and Islam opinions.
There are many cuisines recipes that distinguish Ramadan like: Knefe and atayef, and these became customs associated with Ramadan.
Ramadan music has a special role in the month of Ramadan. Ramadan songs are associated with Arabic popular religious songs during Ramadan. As wells as the month of Ramadan is associated with food and the lantern and Ramadan iftar ... it is also associated with Ramadan songs that linger in the inspiration of purifying souls...
